what we offer
At Motueka High School we offer a diverse range of subjects apart from the usual core subjects. Such as Horticulture, Sport, Animal Care, Engineering, Tourism and many more. Take physics and you can do a skydive! We also offer a range of sport and cultural classes that all students can enjoy including extra curricular activities such as chess club.
About Motueka
We are located In Motueka, a small town only 35 minutes from Nelson city. We are semi-rural so we have the convenience of small town living with a city nearby. We are deeply connected with our community. We are in close proximity of three national parks with the Abel Tasman being the largest. We have beautiful beaches, hiking, trails and skiing, perfect for those who love the outdoors.
Outdoor Education
We offer a wide range of sports both within the school and through local sports clubs. Physical Education and Sport are offered as subjects through to Year 13. We have a world class outdoor education programme at MHS where you can learn to kayak, abseil, rock climb, cave and much more. Join our award winning Adventure Racing team!

Homestay Fees
2026: NZD$320 per week
2027: NZD$350 per week
We charge NZD$20 per week more for vegan, gluten or dairy free dietary requirements. However, students with these dietary requirements are only accepted if we have host family availability. No extra charge for vegetarian dietary requirements.
