what we offer

Our school is unique in more than one way, particularly through our Ignite Curriculum. With two semesters a year, and student choice as a priority, you can take up to 10 different subjects over one year with us. We do our best to meet our students’ interests, and our courses step outside the normal with options like Forensic Science. Outside of academic, we also support students to pursue trades, arts, and their non-academic passions.

About Kuranui

While Greytown feels far removed from the city, we are only an hour away from Wellington city, the capital of New Zealand, and trains run daily between the two. If you don’t feel like travelling so far, Greytown itself has many boutiques, and Carterton is filled with fantastic cafés.

Homestay Families

We have many options for homestay families, and we’re happy to make things work for any situation. Whether you’re with us for one term, or one year, we’ll make sure your stay is a comfortable one. The majority of our students catch the bus to and from school every day.

Outdoor Education

Our school courses offer plenty of opportunities to get out and about in the Wairarapa, including caving, BMX, tramping, kayaking, and aviation. We are one of three schools in New Zealand to offer the National Certificate of Aviation, and the only secondary school to offer glider training. Aviation runs all year, with practical components in Term 1 and 4 each year.
