About Palmerston North

Palmerston North also boasts many beautiful walking-tracks and a world-class mountain-biking park.
Outdoor Education
We offer a wide range of sport for those who are competitive or want to socialise – and if we don’t have it – we’ll find it for you!
School trips can involve skiing and tramping and exploring the North Island, seeing famous spots like Hobbiton, Rotorua’s geothermal wonders, and Wellington’s cultural treasures. Your time at Freyberg will include many wonderful opportunities.

Homestay Fees
2026: NZD$335 per week
2027: NZD$350 per week
NZD$25 additional cost per week for students with gluten free/coeliac dietary requirements
Outdoor Education Fees
Outdoor Education is not offered as a subject at Freyberg High School. However, students are able to participate in a wide range of activities through other subject offerings and as organised by the International Department, homestay families and outside agencies.
Contingency Fund
NZD$250 per term
Unused funds will be returned when the student goes home.
