We offer a wide range of academic subjects, including Wood Technology, Food & Nutrition, Music, and Drama. We also have a strong focus on Maori culture, and you can experience this firsthand by joining our Kapa Haka group.

Our dedicated International Director provides guardianship and wellbeing support to ensure you have a fantastic experience. For a good look through what we can offer, download our information pack here.

About Alexandra

Alexandra is a small rural town in the picturesque Central Otago Basin, famous for its dry, sunny climate and beautiful scenery.  You can explore the Otago Central Rail Trail, visit the iconic Clock on the Hill, and experience the annual Spring Blossom Festival.

Homestay Families

A warm and caring welcome awaits you. Our strong network of families, many of whom live on farms or lifestyle blocks, offer a chance to experience caring for animals, learn about farming, and enjoy delicious local cuisine.

Outdoor Education

Explore the stunning outdoors with our renowned Outdoor Education Programme. We encourage all international students to join this programme, which includes activities like snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and overnight hiking expeditions.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in week-long camps at the DHS Tititea Outdoor Education Centre, located near Mount Aspiring National Park.

Valuable Feedback

“Thank you for all your work you had with our son. He fitted in very well at your school and he had a great year. My wife and I always had the feeling that you were reliable and committed to looking after Jelte and that we never had to worry.

My wife and I are teachers ourselves and we were impressed by the variety of offers and the good organisation at your school."
