Papanui High School

About Us
Papanui High School is a Christchurch community-based state co-educational secondary school with a roll of 1500 students from Yr 9 to Yr 13. The school has welcomed international students for the past 30 years and has approximately 60 full-time students each year.
The student population is diverse with students coming from a range of cultural backgrounds. There is a strong academic focus on teaching and learning in first-class modern facilities. International students are well-cared for by a dedicated staff of 4 – a director, dean, homestay coordinator and an administrative assistant.
Students are able to choose subjects from a wide range of options. Outdoor Education is extremely popular with international students. Students study alongside kiwi classmates and enjoy both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course. They grow in self-esteem and develop their leadership skills in the outdoors. Students enjoy the variety of new subjects, the fact that they can choose them themselves and that most subjects are practically based. They are encouraged to join in school life and participate in at least one of the many clubs and activities on offer.
