Papanui High School is situated in Christchurch, the South Island’s largest city. Christchurch has a rich cultural and historical atmosphere. It is situated within an hour’s drive of several skifields and is less than 15 minutes drive from surf beaches.

Papanui High School has gained a nationwide reputation for innovation in a wide range of fields. Our campus is a mix of historic and state of the art modern buildings and facilities. Our subject choice is both wide, varied and exciting.

This award showcases excellence in role-modelling all areas of international education, such as academic programmes, pastoral care and quality delivery of the Code of Practice.

Outdoor Programme

Outdoor Education at Papanui is all about personal growth, accepting challenges, developing personal management skills, working with others, developing knowledge and skills and an appreciation and respect for the outdoor environment in New Zealand.

The course includes:

• Mountaincraft
• Navigation
• First Aid
• Rock climbing
• Tramping
• Kayaking
• Mountain biking
• High and Low Ropes Courses
• Skiing/Snowboarding

The outdoor programme provides a basis for lifelong enjoyment and safety in the outdoors. Students will be able to cope and meet challenges in the outdoor tourist industry, and will also be well prepared for tertiary courses in outdoor pursuits and adventure tourism.

We have a Wilderness Club who organise frequent tramps into the beautiful environment close to Christchurch.

In winter, supervised ski trips are held most weekends.

We genuinely go out of our way to give our students a lasting and meaningful experience.

Academic Programme

Papanui High School offers a full range of academic subjects to suit the needs of students. Apart from the usual academic courses; Catering and Hospitality, Drama, Design and Art courses are popular with our international students. New international students take part in an orientation programme, before being placed in a suitable mainstream class according to their English language skills.

Fees & Accomodation

Students are provided with homestay accommodation during their stay in New Zealand. The school’s homestay co-ordinator is responsible for placing students in a suitable home in the Papanui area.

Tuition fee:

• NZ$11,500 for 1 year
• NZ$ 9,200 for 3 term
• NZ$ 6,900 for 2 term
• NZ$ 4,600 for 1 term

Accommodation: - NZ$215 per week

Placement fee: NZ$250 per year

Outdoor education fee: NZ$350 per Semester

Travel/health insurance: NZ$468.47 per year

Uniform: Major items can be hired with payment of a refundable $100 bond
